5Essentials Survey is Open Now

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We value your partnership and your voice—and beginning today February 3, you have an important opportunity to share your thoughts about Jack Benny Middle School through the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey.
Each year, families across Illinois are invited to take part in the 5Essentials Survey, a statewide survey that helps schools better understand what’s working well and where we can continue to grow. As a parent or guardian, your feedback provides us with meaningful insight into your child’s school experience and helps guide decisions that support student success.
The Illinois State Board of Education partners with UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago to administer this confidential online survey. It focuses on five key areas that research has shown are strongly connected to student achievement, attendance, and overall school success:
· Effective Leaders
· Collaborative Teachers
· Involved Families
· Supportive Environments
· Ambitious Instruction
In fact, studies of more than 400 schools found that schools strong in at least three of these areas were 10 times more likely to show gains in reading and math than schools that were not.
All teachers and students in grades 4–12 will be taking the survey, and reports are generated when participation reaches required levels. In addition, our district has chosen to include the optional Parent Survey Supplement. If 20% or more of Jack Benny Middle School families complete the parent survey, we will receive a Parent Report that helps us better understand family perspectives and strengthen our partnership with you. (Parent survey results are not included in the State School Report Card.)
Your responses are completely confidential—they are never connected to you or your child—and your honest feedback helps us reflect, improve, and plan for the future.
