Dress Code

Tops:
Solid white, green, navy blue, black or gray shirts collared and T-shirts (only). No stripes, words, decorative pieces, or symbols on clothing. No layering with other colors except white.

Any Jack Benny Middle School Spirit wear T-shirts/jogging pants can be worn. (Can be purchased at JBMS )

Bottoms:
Solid navy blue, khaki, black, or gray colored pants, shorts, skirts, jogging pants, skorts, jumpers, overalls or dresses (dresses, shorts, or pants at appropriate length and not distracting to the educational environment.) Bottoms must be worn at the waist as designed.

Jackets:
Jackets must be placed in student's locker during the school day.

Book Bags:
Students are not allowed to carry book bags or back packs during the day.

School ID:
A school ID is part of dress code and must be worn daily (Begins September 12, 2014, after Picture Day). Any student who loses his/her ID or asks for a temporary ID two consecutive days in a row will be required to purchase a new ID for $5.

P.E. Uniform:
All students are required to wear a WPS P.E. uniform during P.E. class. Purchases may be made during the first few weeks of school. (Information will be sent home with each student.)

Others:

  • No jeans, denim, or ‘Jeggings’.
  • No facial piercings are allowed.
  • Head coverings (excluding those for religious purposes), hats, bandanas, and sunglasses are not allowed.
  • Immodest and revealing clothing such as see through clothing, cut-off T-shirts or short-shorts are not allowed.
  • From the shoulder to mid-thigh, all skin and underwear must be covered by clothing.
  • Pants/shorts/skirts/etc. must cover the students’ respective undergarments, and tops must cover the students’ respective undergarments.

*Any staff member that views any item of clothing inappropriate for school shall request the student to turn the item of clothing inside out or change into a different article of clothing in order to provide a safe, appropriate learning environment.

Examples of unacceptable wear:

  • Tops with spaghetti straps.
  • Tops whose neckline falls below an imaginary horizontal line drawn between the two armpits.
  • Halter tops, tube tops, one shoulder tops.
  • Tops whose bottom hem does not overlap with the pants/skirt/shorts.
  • Shorts or skirts that do not cover to mid-thigh. Another guideline is that skirt/shorts should not be shorter than 6 inches from mid knee.
  • Shorts, skirts or pants that are worn in a manner that does not completely cover undergarments.
  • Boys pants must be worn at the waist, boxer shorts must not be showing.
  • Clothing that is so tightly fitted or so sheer that it reveals undergarments.
